2. An elaborate one for someone who is decent with HTML but not great.

3. I know you have to make the background pretty much yourself and then make the tables over the spot you made for the tables but I don't know how to do it! (if that made any sense at all :P)

to have your player show up u have to move it using

top:0px; left:0px; %26lt;-------these 2, that determines where it shows up on the screen. Now u will have to do some test and error for it to work right, i would say open 2 webpages and edit the code in 1 and refresh your page in the second 1 until u get it where u want it.

So just focus on this part of the code:

the actual height of the player is around 50 and the width is close to 300 ive already changed that for you.

to change where the player is located first u have to know what changes what

the top:0px, is how close the player is to the top of the page, right underneath the ads at the top, So the more pixels it is the more it will be away from the top, Same concept with the left, just going from the left side of the screen

i would tell u exactly where to put it but i dont know where u want it, or where it would fit into the profile at.

DIVs are nothing special. its basically an empty box. my suggestion is to learn the basics of what a DIV is and what properties you can use with it. when you've learned that, you wont need a tutorial. heck, may be you'll be writting the tutorial when you're done understanding how it works.

Most likely you'd have to paste it into your interests table.

In able to make it work, you have to have your friend id.

(number found next to the url in the address bar on your profile)

This enables the layout to work, especially if there are contact buttons, you need to have the right friend id to make them work.

It sounds complicated, but it's quite easy. Bottom line is to read the directions given when choosing a div layout.

Mine is set for xxxx by 1024. That is how I see it. Someone coming to see my site at 800x600 will see my background zoomed in. I would say that 800x600 or xxx by 1024 will be your best bet. You can't make the picture the right size to cover all the resolutions that folks will be seeing it and it look good. All you can do is say that "site is best seen at 800x600" or something like that, so they can change their monitor to see it correctly.

However, I have done a lot of div overlay trouble shooting, and I know that almost all the code out there uses a strategy which forces the hiding of the bottom links.

The reason, is that they use a "Pick up and Plop back down" (otherwise known as absolute placement), to place the main div. When this is done, the rest of the page content, arranges itself as if the div was NOT there. This means if you do not hide the bottom links, they end up either behind your div, or on top of it (and possibly behind on one browser, and on top on another).

I have a div overlay strategy (and a tutorial) that does NOT hide the bottom links.

Instead of absolute placement, for the main div, it places it at a level, where it naturally centers itself, and pushes down the bottom links as it grows.

I have a few different tutorials, and multiple examples.

The best one depends on if you are using a core image or several floating divs, and what elements from the default content you want to display.

How can I get the bottom links to SHOW on a div overlay (myspace)?

Unless you make the DIV yourself, you cant, that's how the person that made it wanted it. If you want the links to show, then you have to make the height kind of short, maybe 600 in height, and not use that many hide codes. The less hide codes you use, the lower the bottom links will be. If you hide EVERYTHING on your profile, the hide links will be almost as high as the navigation links.

bbzspace.com's overlay gen hides the ads, so I wouldn't recommend using that. There's a site that makes flash layouts, but it doesnt look that unique. I make my own DIVs, but unless I knew exactly what you wanted, I couldn't make you one. Try hiring someone, or having your label hire someone professional to do a great job. Then it will look professional.

the part that take alot of playing around is placing the div in the correct place. you have to change the left: number and the top: number and probably play around with the width and height, and text color.

the left: is how many pixels is the box you want the friend to show up in from the left of the screen.. the top: is the number of pixels the top of the box is from the top of your screen. the width and hieght take care of the extra values to make the box the correct size.

im not exactly sure where you wanted to place the friends list on this layout, but this code will make it overlay where ever you put them..

This is gonna be tough, its pretty advanced html stuff, way beyond any normal myspace stuff..

Adjust the properties to position it, size it up, etc. "z-index" will determine which layer the div will be, so if you put set that property to 1, it will override any other layers on your page. Margin-left and "top" will position the div where you want.

i'm just starting to mess with the whole div overlay option to creating a layout on myspace. and through the generator on bbzspace.com i can get started, but after that, i don't understand how to put the picture in. i would ask in the forums, but they don't seem very nice there. i really would just like some help that i can understand.

How do you add your default picture in myspace when making a div overlay?

When adding pictures to a myspace div profile you must first have the photo hosted on a site. If the photo is one on your computer you should probably upload the photo onto a site such as photobucket.

Once the photo has been hosted find the appropriate div box to place the photo into and put image code to dispay the picture. Using the bbz generator i think they get you to paste the content div boxes into your music section so look in there for something similar to:

%26lt;/div%26gt;

and place image code between these two tags.

image code should be:

%26lt;img src="URLHERE"%26gt;

Replace the URL HERE part with the URL of the chosen picture. If using photobucket this can be seen under the pic. URLs of pics are usually in the form: http://somesite.net/somepicture.jpg

Make sure you keep the URL address in "....".

You can also add borders, change to grayscale, change size by adding other codes. Just type myspace image codes into google and search and it will come up with HEAPS of sites detailing how to do this :) For example: http://www.123mycodes.com/image-codes.ph...

Also, if you have the picture loaded into the pictures part of your myspace you can click add/edit photos then find the photo you want to use. Then right click that photo and either:

1) select copy image location

2) select image properties and manually highlight and copy the image location.

This will give you the image URL which you can then paste into the above code.

It sort of makes sense, but it hard to tell you exactly how to do this if I do not know how you placed the div.

Does the div have a class?

Did you place the div using position:absolute or position:relative, and is there a top attribute to go with it?

You either increase the value of top OR you can add a margin to the top.

i.e.

position:absolute; top:200px; left: ....

Change to maybe:

position:absolute; top:250px; ....

That will move it down 50 pixels.

Or maybe you have this:

position:relative; top:0px

In that case do something like this:

position:relative; top:50px

Or if you have no positioning statement, you can add one.

div.NAME-OF-YOUR-DIV-CLASS {position:relative; top:50px; }

make sure it goes in a style block
