I'm not too shabby at coding, I know a good bit of html %26amp; css and stuff, so I'd appreciate it if you didnt suggest any pre-made layouts.

DIVs are nothing special. its basically an empty box. my suggestion is to learn the basics of what a DIV is and what properties you can use with it. when you've learned that, you wont need a tutorial. heck, may be you'll be writting the tutorial when you're done understanding how it works.
